Kenya: Iten Town Planning to Cost Sh36 Million

The planning of Iten town is underway. Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos said the process will cost Sh36 million. He said for many years, Iten town has not had the image of a town.

"Whenever a visitor sets foot in Iten town, they do not understand whether they are in town or in a small shopping centre due to improper planning," said Tolgos. Iten town will be modernised to look neat for the next 50 years, said Tolgos. He said his vision is to make Iten town an urban town with big hotels. Major places that the spatial planning targets are cemeteries and dumpsites.
