In mid-2007, a new trend was set in the aviation industry after the successful opening of the domestic terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, known as MMA2; that was built by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) on private, public partnership (PPP). Its success, despite controversies on tenure of operation before handover, showed that the private sector could successfully invest in airport infrastructure.
