Addis Ababa — South Sudan's rebel faction of the Sudan Peoples' Liberation Movement (SPLM-in-Opposition) led by former vice-president, Riek Machar, said they repulsed a counter-attack by government troops loyal to president Salva Kiir in their attempt to retake Bentiu, the capital of Unity state, which the rebels claimed they captured on Wednesday.
