Mozambique: National Karate Selection Doesn't Go to World Championship Because of Lack of 400 Thousand Meticais

The national karate selection, in Karate Do specialty, will not participate in the World Championship, that will be disputed in November in Germany, because the Government doesn't offers 400 thousand meticais (around 13.300 US dolars). In July, the Mozambican Karateka won seven medals at the World Championships held in South Africa, where they participate paying their expenses themselves.

Earlier this year the Government, through Sports Promotion Fund (FPD), undertook to defray the costs of transport, accommodation and feeding of the selection that would represent Mozambique in the World Championship; However, missing 20 days to the start of the competition "we received a letter from the Sports Promotion Fund reporting that it doesn't have funds to pay for our trip to Germany" lamented the President of Mozambican Federation of Karate, Carlos Dias.
