Zimbabwe: India Seeks to Erect Gandhi Statue in Harare Gardens

INDIA intends to erect a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Harare Gardens and its embassy has since engaged council for authorisation. According to council minutes, India made the request through its ambassador, Mr Jeitendra Tripathi.

"His Worship, the mayor (Bernard Manyenyeni) reported that he had received a request from the Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency, Mr Jeitendra Tripathi, for permission to erect a Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Harare Gardens," read the minutes.
