FOR many years Dr Cleopas Sila Msuya (73), a retired US trained Medical Officer worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as regional health consultant, with 14 different national societies (countries) under his supervision.

Before joining the private humanitarian institution (ICRC) which was founded in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland, Msuya served as a lecturer at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medial Centre (KCMC) and became Principal of the Training Centre for Assistant Medical Centre (KCMC) until 1984 when he joined AMREF. Dr Msuya recently granted an interview to staff writer, BILHAM KIMATI. Excerpts:
