Kenya: Human Rights Film Festival Impresses

Last week, the Human Rights Watch had their annual film festival. It showcased five films that highlighted various issues from different parts of the world.

With the increasing cases of gender-based violence in the world, the film Private Violence looked into the issue of domestic violence. The film starts off at a shelter trying to get one of the survivors to stay away from her abusive partner that was driving toward the shelter. It follows the life of Deane Walters who was abused by her estranged husband. Deane tells the story of how loving her husband was when they were dating but once they got married, he started hitting her.
