Angola to Buy 100 New Locomotives

Luanda — The Angolan authorities will spend about Usd 500 billion in the purchase of 100 new locommotives and several cargo materials , the general director of the National Railway Institute, Júlio Joaquim, has said.

According to the official, who has given the information at the Transport Fair (ExpoTrans/2014), several measures will have to be taken aimed for the improvement of the sector for the benefit of economic agents and the families, such as the publication of a legal instrument with a new institutional model, the approval of a legal framework that outlines a separation of activities such as the management of infrastructures and transport services and the introduction of a traction and taxation system on the use of rail infrastructures, among other aspects.
