Nigeria: UNODC Raises the Alarm Over Growing Child Trafficking

Abuja — THE 2014 Global Report on Trafficking in Persons released Monday in Vienna by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has raised the alarm over increasing rate of child trafficking worldwide, sub-Sahara Africa inclusive.

The Report made available to The Guardian maintained that currently, trafficking in children has increased by five per cent over what obtained in the period between 2003 and 2007. Public Information Officer of UNODC, Preeta Bannerjee noted that today, one third of persons trafficked are children.
