The president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Prof Alh Dr Yahya Jammeh Monday evening launched a broad appeal to farming communities to lend hands on the vast rice fields that are cultivated under the country's Vision 2016 initiative. He warned that the farms are due for harvest and hands are needed more urgently to salvaging them from post-harvest losses.
The Gambian leader, who made the appeal at State House in Banjul, said he was extending appeal to farming communities in Senegal and Guinea Bissau, reiterating that a lot of rice fields are due for harvest.
