Mozambique: City Council Declines to Investigate Drownings

Maputo — Maputo City Council on Friday tried to disown all responsibility for the deaths by drowning last week of four young people at the Costa do sol beach.

The head of the municipality's legal office, Raimundo Chambe, told a press conference that it was not up to the Council to investigate the matter, since that was in the hands of institutions such as the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Criminal Investigation Police (PIC).
