Western nations have welcomed Kenya's desire to improve security but urged that enough time be taken to review and consult broadly before the Security Bill is assented into law.
In a joint statement on Thursday, ambassadors from the USA, UK, Sweden, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Australia, Denmark and France said that while legislation is necessary in the face of sustained terror attacks, the Constitution, international obligations and human rights must be respected.
