The Kenyan government has frozen about 300 million shillings ($3.3 million) in assets from 525 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) it de-registered this week, Kenya's The Standard reported Thursday (December 18th).
In a statement Tuesday, the government's NGO Co-ordination Board said it had "de-registered 510 organisations for non-compliance with the law," adding that 15 are suspected of using their charitable status as a front for raising cash for terrorism.
