19 December 2014

Iten town in Elgeyo Marakwet County will next Wednesday host the ninth edition of the Shoe4Africa women's road race. Race founder Toby Tanser today announced that entry will be free for the annual women's-only, five-kilometre road race.

"Registration is free and starts on Monday (December 22) at the Fourways Shop near the High Altitude Training Centre and will be on a first come, first serve basis," said Tanser, who is based in New York and who runs the Shoe4Africa charity. "This year's race's mission will be to educate athletes and the local communities on the prevention and management of HIV/Aids," Tanser said. "There will be prizes for the top 12 finishers at the race which will have Athletics Kenya (AK) president Isaiah Kiplagat as chief guest."
