Nigeria: Yuletide Season - Airlines Defy Safety Regulations, Operate Aircraft Not Airworthy

Travelling by air in Nigeria may still be a risky venture as some domestic airline operators are said to have flouted safety regulations put in place by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Investigations revealed that in order not to miss the lucrative Christmas season, some airlines are operating aircraft in their fleet that are in bad condition. This is because some of their parts needed to be replaced. In utter disregard to safety of lives, these aircraft are put in the air by their owners, whereas they ought to be grounded until their bad parts are replaced.
