Cameroon: Refugee Camps Under Close Security Watch

As the country tackles serious security challenges on some of its borders, the authorities are also keeping an eye on happenings in the hinterland. Closing this year's second semester Governors' Conference at the Yaounde City Council Hall on Thursday, December 18, 2014, the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Jules Doret Ndongo, directed the Governors to keep close watch on refugee camps and the use of traditional weapons during cultural rites.

Jules Doret Ndongo ordered that greater security attention be paid to cross-border movements, drinking spots, venues of games of chance, as well as the ongoing Dixiades national games in Yaounde. On the other hand, the Governors were directed to ensure the implementation of road safety measures and personally supervise and coordinate polio vaccination campaigns to obtain expected results.
