Senegal Wins Sub-Regional Pentathlon Championship

Senegal was Sunday crowned champions of the five-nation sub-regional pentathlon championship at the Pocoloco beach after accumulating 675 points. The Gambia finished a distant second with 553 points with Benin, Ivory Coast and Mali ranked in that order with 77, 64 and 26 points respectively.

The two-day championship was organised by the Gambia Pentathlon Association and it featured five different sporting events in shooting, fencing (sword fighting), swimming and running. The other component that also made up the sport, horse racing, was not participated, given that The Gambia is not yet equipped with horses for such event.
