MUSLIMS in Garissa have called on the government to declare Mawlid-al-Nabi, Prophet Muhammad's birthday, a public holiday.
The day, which may be the equivalent of Christmas to Christians, falls on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic calendar (Rabi ul-Awwal), and is a public holiday in most Islamic countries.
