Tanzania: Ilala Council Pinned Over 662 Million/ - 'Missing Drugs'

HIGH-RANKING officials at the Ilala Municipal Hall found themselves in hot soup yesterday after they failed to account for drugs worth 662m/- that were purportedly purchased from the Medical Stores Department (MSD) during 2012/2013 financial year.

It came to light during a meeting between Ilala Municipal Council officials and members of the Parliamentary Local Authorities Accounts Committee (LAAC) that during the fiscal year, drugs worth the amount were procured from the MSD. There were no documents to prove the purchase though.
