Kenya: Crackdown On Kenyan Bloggers Ignites Freedom of Expression Debate

Nairobi — The jailing of Kenyan blogger Alan Wadi Okengo, known as Wadi, for insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta on social media has ignited a fierce national debate on freedom of expression and its limits.

Cyber Crime Unit officers arrested Wadi, 25, a fourth-year political science student at Moi University, on December 31st as he attempted to enter Uganda through the Busia County border.
