Kenya: Digital Dividends Should Benefit All Broadcasters

Last week, Citizen TV, NTV, KTN, QTV and their sister radio stations ran a commercial asking viewers not to buy GOtv and StarTimes decoders. They alleged that the two companies are distributing their Free-to-Air signals without their consent, hence infringing on their copyright.

The argument being advanced here is quite interesting in the light of changing TV technology and the fact that Kenya has committed to migrate its entire analogue based Free to Air broadcasting into digital broadcasting before the International Telecommunication Union's deadline of June 17, 2015.
