Edgar Lungu has been declared the winner of Zambia's presidential election. His main rival for the post, who finished a close second, has cried foul.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia announced on Saturday that Edgar Lungu of the ruling Patriotic Front had won this week's election with 48.3 percent of the votes. Hakainde Hichilema, a wealthy economist from the opposition United Party for National Development finished second with 46.7 percent. There were also nine other candidates, each of whom received a negligible share of the vote.
