Uganda: Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu Consecrates First Female Bishop

The Rt Rev Libby Lane was made the bishop of Stockport with solemn oaths, high ceremony, and a sermon that drew on Call the Midwife in York Minster.

The ceremony was conducted by Ugandan born, Archbishop of York, Dr. John Sentamu. He thus made history by consecrating the First Female Church of Uganda Bishop. Libby Lane thus became a bishop despite fierce opposition from traditionalists.
