West Africa: The ECOWAS Chairman in the Gambia

The ECOWAS did not send observers to the Presidential Elections in the Gambia because of the results of the pre-election observation process.

Hence when there is an attempt to change a government through the power of the gun it is expected that ECOWAS would be present to find out what had happened and counsel how such security breaches could be averted through the promotion of democratic governance and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.
