Liberian Police Cites Gay Rights Activist Over Child Support

Monrovia — Gay rights activist, Archie Ponpon, has been cited by the Police over allegation of persistent non-support to a child. Mr. Ponpon was cited to appear before the Police on Wednesday, January 28, at 10:00 am to answer to a formal complaint of persistent non-support filed by Madam Monah Sarkoh, the mother of Ponpon's one -year old son. Ms Sarkoh, in her complaint to the Police, also accused the gay rights activist of forcibly withholding her personal properties, including clothing and cell phones against her will.

Part of the citation dated January 27, 2015 addressed to Ponpon under the signature of Alieu M. Bility, Deputy Head of the Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police (LNP), reads: "With compliments, I write to invite your presence at our office situated at the Central Police Headquarter, Capitol Bye Pass in order to have your answer to the complaint reported by complainant Monah Sarkoh your son's mother."
