Nigeria: Emir Sanusi Tasks Politicians on Peaceful Elections

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has advised politicians to caution their supporters against acts capable of causing violence during the forthcoming elections. He gave the advice when the Gubernatorial Candidate of Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), Alhaji Bashir Ishaq, paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Kano on Thursday.

"Election is not a war, so there is need for politicians to caution their supporters against violence. "People should be allowed to vote for whoever they think will take them to the promise land." According to him, no meaningful development can be achieved in any country in an atmosphere of uncertainty and chaos.
