The Liberian Telecommunications Authority is in the process of amending the Licensing and Authorization Regulations in what sources say is a bid to accommodate another cellular company in Liberia and offer a lifeline for sagging cellular companies on the ropes.
Sources informed FrontPageAfrica that the regulators of the telecommunications sector has for some time now been working to make amendments to the licensing and authorization regulations in a bid to smooth the entry into the Liberia Cellular market of Vodacom Group Limited, an African mobile which started in South Africa, but has expanded operations to include networks in Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Lesotho, and provides services to over 40 African countries such as Nigeria, Zambia, Angola, Kenya, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, and Cameroon.
