Sudan: Almost Half of Sudan's Kassala 'Below Poverty Line'

Khartoum — Nearly 120,000 families in Kassala state, eastern Sudan, are living below the poverty line according to a national survey published yesterday.

The official statistics confirmed that 121,052 families, making up 46.3 percent of the population in Kassala state, are struggling to survive. About 26,000 of them receive support from the Kassala Zakat (Islamic alms, RD) Chamber.
