South Sudan: SPLM-Io Rebels Describe As 'Irrational' Juba Arguments On Leadership Structure

Addis Ababa — South Sudanese rebel group, SPLM-IO, led by former vice-president Riek Machar said government's arguments against a proposed leadership structure during a period of transition were irrational and indicative of lack of seriousness to restore peace and stability in the young country.

Senior officials of president Salva Kiir's government have in recent days publicly expressed rejection to a proposal presented to the warring parties by the mediation of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), which suggested a leadership structure composed of president, first vice-president and vice-president.
