Algeria: Finance Minister Rejects Any Recourse to Dinar Devaluation

Algiers — Finance Minister Mohamed Djellab has rejected Wednesday any recourse to the devaluation of (the Algerian) dinar. He has implicitly stated that some importers maintain their prices up, despite falling world prices of some raw materials, notably food products.

"There has been no devaluation of the dinar," he said while answering a journalist question about a possible devaluation of the dinar, which would have caused high food prices in recent days.
