Ghana: Charge OYA With Deceit of Public Officers

A pro-government group, Organized Youth of Ashanti (OYA) who compelled the police in Kumasi to change the original date of February 24, which was initially earmarked by the Movement For Change (MFC), another Kumasi based pressure group to embark on a street protest in Kumasi against the government's failure to address the dum-so problem, has reportedly abandoned the programme. The group had written a letter to the police on February 10, declaring its intention to undertake a procession through the streets of Kumasi to express its gratitude to President Mahama and the government of the NDC, for the numerous projects it was undertaking in the region.

Since the day of the procession coincided with that of the MFC, the police were left with no option but to sit the two groups down and negotiate with them, since it could not permit the two events to be undertaken on the same day, because of security implications.
