As parliament resumes business after the Christmas/New Year recess, there is growing pressure from scientists and their lobbyists to push the house into passing the highly-contentious biotechnology and biosafety bill - commonly known as GMO (genetically modified organisms) bill.
The bill has been on the order paper twice this week, after it was 'thrown out' of the house last year by the speaker of parliament for further consultations. But the responsible legislators have shied away from public discussions about the bill.
