Ghana: MMDAs Urged to Educate Members On Standing Orders

Ghana Development Community Association (GDCA), a Non-Governmental Organisation, has entreated the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to educate all Assembly members on the Standing Orders to enable them participate meaningfully during meetings. Mr. Osman Abdel Rahman, Executive Director of the organisation, noted that there are still some members of the Assemblies who are not conversant with certain parts of the Standing Orders, in spite of the fact that the current model of procedure had served the Assemblies better in ensuring civility during debates at meetings.

He said some members are even ignorant about inaugural, emergency, invitation or frequency meetings and the number of times Assemblies must meet in a year.
