Nigeria: Epidemic Looms in Abuja Federal Secretariat

Poor office hygiene culture among civil servants in the Federal Secretariat, situated on the fringes of the Three Arms Zone, Abuja has ensured that stench from both the office toilets and several open space urinals in the sprawling complexes keep visitors on the edge. ruth chOji writes

It is now common sight to see visitors to the Federal Secretariat in Abuja twitch their noses or cover them with their hands just to ward off the stench that emanates from the many open spots where people urinate within the sprawling complexes. The smell can be perceived right from the main entrance of the complex which houses Zenith Bank and where northern meat vendors congregate to sell "kilish:", a local meat delicacy.
