Nigeria: Day Udom Shut Down Home Town in Akwa Ibom

Uyo — The well known adage that a prophet has no respect in his home was recently challenged and proved wrong when the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel moved his state-wide campaign train to his hometown, Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State to formally present himself to his people.

It is by no means an exaggeration to conclude that no single grain of pepper could drop on the ground if thrown, due to the unprecedented crowd that trooped out for the grand finale of the Udom Emmanuel governorship tour , leading to a complete shut down of the serene town of Onna throughout the duration of the rally. Entertainment was not ruled out as the mega rally also witnessed various traditional dances, cultural displays and star performances by Nollywood stars and Akwa Ibom Entertainers forum. Venue of the event, Abat town in Onna Local Government Area witnessed massive turnout of who-is-who in the politics of Akwa Ibom state, including past and serving political office holders, captains of industry, the organized labour, student bodies, youth and women organizations, party faithfuls and the political class.
