THE Namibian Broadcasting Corporation is not violating the Communications Act by the compulsory requirement that consumers buy decoders as part of the digital terrestrial television or DTT.
The Namibian understands that MTC, the country's biggest mobile operator, feels there is no difference between the N$2 the service provider charged for the 10MB campaign, which MTC was forced to cancel recently by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (Cran), and the compulsory requirement by NBC that consumers buy decoders if they want to continue watching its programmes. MTC officials refused to speak on record.
