The Consumer Association of Malawi (CAMA) has described the recent tariff hike by mobile phone network provider Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) to be effective tomorrow as 'unjustifiable' considering recent economic development of the country.
TNM has announced a gigantic 14 percent record rise in its tariffs which will now see mobile phones expenses swelling to over two thirds of people's average monthly earnings. The increase is effective Wednesday this week. The mobile operator defended the price increase, saying it's the only way the company can continue to post higher profitability.
