Cairo — Egypt's Court of Cassation turned down on Wednesday a request for retrial for two policemen convicted of torturing to death Khaled Said, upholding their prison sentences.
Said was brutally beaten to death while in police custody in July 2010 in the coastal city of Alexandria. His death is seen as one of the early triggers of the 2011 urpsing which toppled the regime of Hosni Mubarak.
