Sumbawanga — MPENJE Village in Kalambo District, Rukwa Region has recorded zero maternal deaths for the past three years, thanks to the efforts of Africare, a non-governmental organization which focuses on reducing maternal deaths and child mortalities among rural communities.
In an effort to address persistent maternal, newborn and child health challenges, the three NGOs, Plan International, Jhpiego and Africare, have partnered to support the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to strengthen health services in Kalambo, Sumbawanga and Nkasi districts in Rukwa Region.
