Khartoum — It is one of the happy twists of history. A few decades ago if you mentioned the name of Venezuela to a Sudanese layman, it would have needed a dictionary and quite a lot of explanations.

Then came a world outspoken man who stood for the underdogs of the world, a voice for the voiceless, a man who stood by and for the rights of the underprivileged, Chavez. And Lo!! Every average Sudanese knows who this man was, and from which country: Venezuela and its historic leader who joined the likes of Che Guevara, Fidel Alejandro Castro, and then President Nicolas Maduro who, to our delight, is following the same path set by iconic leader Chavez. More and more interests is building up in the Sudan about Latin America in general and Venezuela in particular.
