Nigeria: Wacsof Calls for Common Currency By 2020

Abuja — The West African Civil Society Forum (WACSOF) on Tuesday called on Heads of States and Governments in West Africa, under the aegis of Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) to ensure a common currency for the region by 2020.

The Forum said that a borderless region with a single unified regional market; with a common currency supported by an integrated and efficient financial market and payment settlement system, where trade and commerce are conducted efficiently with ease, is inevitable.
