Mauritius: Empowering Women Through 'Do It Yourself' Initiative

A 'Do It Yourself' (DIY) programme, aimed at empowering some 50 women from Sainte Croix and its vicinity through the acquisition of basic knowledge and skills in electrical, plumbing and car maintenance, kicked off this morning at Sainte Croix Social Welfare Centre.

The programme will enable participants to identify minor repairs required at household level and take the basic palliative measures. The DIY programme is in line with the objective of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare to empower women in their day-to-day life.
