Mozambique: Frelimo Spokesperson Denied 'Intimidation' Claim

Maputo — Thursday's speech by Armando Guebuza, President of Mozambique's ruling Frelimo Party, opening a meeting of the party's Central Committee, did not constitute any form of intimidation, according to the party's spokesperson. Damiao Jose.

In clear response to Jorge Rebelo, the former head of the Frelimo ideology department, who had accused Guebuza of intimidating Central Committee members so that they would not raise “relevant issues” during the meeting, Jose told reporters on Friday that Guebuza had merely called for discipline among Frelimo members.
