Blantyre — The Blantyre City Council-BCC in partnership with WASTE, advisers on urban, environment and development has secured K1.1 billion from Bill and Melinda Gates and the Department for International Department (DFID) for a three-year Blantyre Urban Sanitation project.
Through the project, BCC in partnership with WASTE and Active Youth Initiative for Social Enhancement-AYISE plans to construct 100 modern toilets in all the city's markets and townships to improve hygiene.
