Uganda: Kasese Drying up, Warns LC-V Boss

Lt Col Dura Mawa Muhindo, the LC-V chairman of Kasese, has warned that water levels in the district are diminishing every year. While commissioning construction of a mini irrigation scheme in Munkunyu, on Thursday, Muhindo urged people living along the rivers running from the Rwenzori mountains to jealously conserve their banks, and also grow more trees.

The scheme, funded by the Luweero-Rwenzori Development Program, will help 970 households increase their food production. The project will be done in two phases, the first one costing over Shs 170m.
