Tanzania: Court Dismisses Application to Bar Sunni Community Polls

THE Kisutu Resident Magistrate's Court in Dar es Salaam has dismissed an application lodged by two prominent businessmen, Mohamed Rafik Haji Mohamed, alias Baghdad and Hamif Abdulaziz, opposing election of Sunni Muslim Jamaat Community leaders.

Senior Resident Magistrate Hellen Riwa ruled in favour of Registered Board of Trustees of Sunni Muslim Jamaat Dar es Salaam, after granting a ground of objection, challenging the jurisdiction of the lower court to determine the leadership crises involving the religious society.
