Nigeria: NCC, APC Locked in Legal Tussle

Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has ordered, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and five major telecommunications companies to pay the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria's main opposition political party, the sum of N500 million naira ($2.2m).

This followed the illegal closure of the party's Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) Short code Messaging Service (SMS) deployed by the APC presidential campaign organisation to raise donations from supporters.
