Liberia: 'Scarce Resources' - Grand Bassa College Struggling to Operate

Grand Bassa Community College (GBCC) faces a wide range of constraints which could possibly impede the potential of the college, a FrontPageAfrica investigation has established. The main problem, since its establishment remains sourcing funding to run the school while the challenge of relocating to its newly built campus is also essential for the prospect of the county's only tertiary learning institution that has significantly attracted students from RiverCess, Sinoe and Margibi Counties since its establishment in 2008.

The College Administration claims it has not received funds from the Grand Bassa County Social or Development fund (CDF) for more than three years, though arrangements leading to the formation of the school indicate that money should be allotted annually from the CDF to buttress the National government's US$600,000 as the primary sources of funding to support the college.
