The government of President John Dramani Mahama is shifting "more to thermal instead of hydro" power generation in his avowed desire to permanently solve the current energy crisis in the country.

"The NDC is shifting more to thermal instead of hydro. As it stands now we have limited thermal sources, and I believe investments from General Electric, Asogli Power Plant, Ghana Gas project at Atuabo and other Independent Power Producers (IPP), as well as VRA's own plants, are all geared towards solving these problems."
