Algeria: Ghoul - Airspace Reopening to Private Operators, Government's Prerogative

Algiers — Transport Minister Amar Ghoul said Tuesday the thawing of licenses to private operators to invest in air transport fell within the prerogatives of the Government.

"The law 98-06 law defining the general rules governing civil aviation enacted in 1998 has indeed opened the airline market to private companies. However, access to the market depends on a license issued by the government," said Minister who presented the bill on civil aviation before MPs of the National People's Assembly (Lower House).
